A family-friendly private game reserve in the Waterberg region, just 290 km north of OR Tambo International Airport

The reserve offers self-catering and catered accommodation in 7 luxury, fully equipped, self-catering thatched cottages, sleeping between 2 and 19 people each. Located close to the small town of Vaalwater, the 1200 hectare malaria-free game farm is ideal for friend or family get-togethers and reunions, birthday parties and anniversaries, small conferences, intimate weddings, and romantic bush getaways.

With a variety of wildlife and habitats, stunning vistas, seasonal rivers, and waterfalls, Izintaba is the perfect destination for those who love the outdoors and the freedom to enjoy the bush at their own pace. Pack your mountain bikes, walking shoes, fishing rods, and binoculars for an activity-filled bush getaway, far from the stress of city life, or just bring a book and a bathing costume and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Waterberg bush at your own pace.

Cottage Accommodation

The seven cottages are fully-equipped for self-catering and are luxuriously furnished. Each cottage has a patio with views over the bushveld and private lapas and braai areas for al fresco dining.

Izintaba caters to a wide range of interests and the needs of everyone no matter your age. Izintaba promotes an active and healthy lifestyle and provides an opportunity for an up close and personal family bush experience.

 

Pet friendly

What is a holiday without the whole family? Your pets will love the freedom of the bush as much as you do. All of our cottages are pet friendly. And for those that require a little more peace of mind, Bushbuck, Zebra, Guineafowl and Giraffe cottages are completely fenced.

Game Viewing

Izintaba offers a diversity of habitats from open plains to rocky kloofs, to dams and seasonal rivers, and so supports a wide variety of wildlife, with over 40 mammal species including an array of antelope and the elusive aardvark and bat-eared foxes. Guests are welcome to do their own game drives or join a guided game drive with a knowledgeable and experienced ranger.

Hiking

Izintaba supports a wide range of fauna and flora, and because we do not have any dangerous game, the best way to take it all in and enjoy the beautiful scenery is on foot. 

Mountain Biking

A good network of farm roads and single track enable the cyclist to enjoy riding in the bush.

Bird Watching

The Waterberg is a bird lovers paradise, with over 200 species of birds found in the area.

  • Amazing Long Weekend!

    Just returned from an amazing long weekend in Giraffe cottage, This was so clean and well equipped for our group of 5 adults and of course our dog, what a privilege to have him with.
